She’s been hailed as one of the most vocal and visible Democrats in Congress, but behind the scenes, insiders are painting a very different picture of Rep. Jasmine Crockett.
Known for her fiery speeches and frequent appearances on national TV, the Texas congresswoman is now at the center of controversy — not for her politics, but for how she treats her own staff.
Complaints Surface from Former Staffers
According to three sources who’ve either worked directly with Crockett or closely alongside her team, the experience of being on her staff is anything but inspiring.
Speaking with the New York Post, these insiders claimed Crockett frequently yells at staff, often skips in-person work, and is more interested in her media profile than her legislative responsibilities.
“She’s barely in the office,” one former aide shared. “She spends most of her time at home and only shows up when she has to.
And when she does, she can be harsh — she yells and gets worked up over the most random things.”
From Texas Representative to National Spotlight
Crockett, now 44, has quickly risen through the political ranks.
A former public defender and state rep in Texas, she was sworn into Congress in January 2023 and soon became a Democratic Party favorite, earning a high-profile speaking role at the Democratic National Convention and becoming a go-to voice on CNN and MSNBC.
But as her national visibility increased, so did the strain on her congressional team, according to those familiar with her office.
“All Diva, No Wow” — Focus More on Image Than Duty?
One of the more biting criticisms came from a source who described Crockett as being “more interested in being an influencer than a lawmaker.”
According to them, her focus is on going viral and curating her public image, rather than showing up for the hard work of governing.
“She thinks she’s her own best adviser,” a source claimed. “It creates a toxic environment.
She doesn’t want press staff because she thinks she does media better than anyone else.”
Office Culture Accused of Being Toxic and Demanding
Reports of a toxic workplace culture are at the heart of the allegations.
One staffer recounted an incident where Crockett reduced an aide to tears during a confrontation.
“She flat-out asked, ‘Do you even want to be here?’” the former aide recalled.
“When the staffer cried, she told them to leave if they didn’t.”
Another staffer, a young Black woman who was later fired, reportedly told a colleague, “I don’t want to hear Jasmine Crockett talk about empowering Black women when she just fired one for no reason.”
Luxury Over Practicality: Demands Behind the Scenes
When Crockett does travel to Capitol Hill, she reportedly refuses to ride with staffers — a common practice among lawmakers — and insists on renting a separate SUV, specifically an Escalade, which staff are then expected to drive.
“It’s technically allowed,” a source explained, “but it’s inefficient and comes across like a power play. She treats staff like Uber drivers.”
Controversial Remarks Spark Internal Tensions
Crockett’s sharp tongue — often applauded by her supporters — has reportedly caused discomfort among her own team.
During a House Oversight Committee hearing, she made headlines by mocking Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene with a jab about her appearance, referring to her as having a “bleach blonde bad built butch body.”
This didn’t sit well with some of Crockett’s LGBTQ+ staffers, who raised concerns about the use of the word “butch.”
According to one aide, when challenged, Crockett allegedly dismissed their concerns with a comment eerily reminiscent of Trump: “That’s not offensive.
You’re stupid if you think so. The gays love me.”
High Turnover and Public Clashes
Crockett’s office has reportedly seen a high staff turnover, with many aides either resigning or being let go.
In one notable moment, during a profile interview with The Atlantic, she was seen chastising a staffer in front of the journalist for a scheduling issue — and later criticized the food they brought her, saying, “This looks like crap.”
After the interview, Crockett tried to shut down the piece entirely, calling the reporter to revoke permission — but the article was published anyway.
No Official Response from Crockett’s Office
Despite the growing chatter, Crockett and her team have yet to respond to requests for comment from either the New York Post or Daily Mail.
The silence has only fueled more questions about how this rising Democratic voice is managing life behind the scenes in Washington.
