Commuters on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway found themselves stuck in frustrating traffic on Friday afternoon after a collision involving multiple vehicles.

The incident brought travel to a near halt along one of the busiest stretches of the highway.

What Happened on the Expressway

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that the accident involved a heavy-duty truck and two passenger cars along the Berger inward Secretariat section.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported from the crash, sparing motorists a more serious tragedy.

Traffic Chaos and Delays

The collision created a major traffic jam, stretching from Jubilee Estate all the way back to the Berger New Garage.

Drivers and passengers were left waiting as authorities worked to clear the scene.

LASTMA Responds

In an update shared on X, LASTMA assured the public that efforts were underway to restore smooth traffic flow.

Their post read, “A multiple vehicle accident involving a truck and two cars has occurred along Berger inward Secretariat.

Authorities are present at the scene to ensure safety and restore normalcy.

No casualties have been recorded as of the time of this report.

Traffic backlog has extended from Jubilee Estate back to Berger New Garage.

Efforts are currently ongoing for evacuation, and our men are present there to ensure ease of traffic movement.”

What Commuters Should Know

Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes or exercise patience while the authorities continue clearing the vehicles and easing the congestion.

LASTMA’s presence on the scene is expected to gradually reduce the gridlock as evacuation and traffic management efforts continue.
