City Power Johannesburg Announces Planned Power Outages Affecting 16 Suburbs Across the City in January 2025

If you live in Johannesburg, especially in some specific neighborhoods, you might want to brace yourself for upcoming power outages.

City Power Johannesburg just announced a series of planned blackouts scheduled over the next couple of weeks, affecting 16 suburbs across the city.

These outages will last about eight hours each but will happen on different days depending on the area.

Why Is the Power Going Out

City Power explained that these interruptions are necessary so they can carry out important maintenance work on their electricity network.

They emphasized that even though the power might come back on earlier than expected, everyone should still treat all electricity supply points as live for safety reasons.

They also apologized for any inconvenience this may cause residents and businesses.
