Chrissy Teigen and John Legend Reveal Their Plans to Leave Los Angeles and Move to London for a Cooler Family Life

Hollywood power couple Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are seriously considering a big move — and it might mean leaving behind their glamorous life in Los Angeles.

After years of living under the Californian sun, the two have been talking about settling somewhere chillier, like London or New York.

Why They’re Eyeing London and New York

The couple currently live in a $17.5 million Beverly Hills mansion, but John recently opened up about their growing desire to live in a place with cooler weather.

Both Chrissy and John, along with their four kids — Luna, nine, Miles, seven, Esti, two, and little Wren who’s just under two — have really fallen in love with the UK after spending several Christmas holidays there.

John told The Sun that while they absolutely adore Los Angeles, they aren’t big fans of spending Christmas in the city’s warm climate. “We like walking cities,” he explained.

“We always talk about moving to New York or London — two places that feel more like home in the winter.”

How the Wildfires Changed Their Outlook

The couple’s thinking about relocating gained urgency after the devastating wildfires hit California earlier this year.

The Eaton and Palisades fires destroyed thousands of homes and tragically took many lives.

John and Chrissy were among the lucky ones; though they had to quickly evacuate with their kids and pets, their home was unharmed.

John described the experience as a “collective trauma” that has left a lasting mark on the family.

He told The Wall Street Journal that the wildfires made them seriously consider moving back to New York, where they used to live before their LA chapter.

The Family’s Harrowing Escape and Shelter

The wildfires hit just as the family had returned from a vacation in early January.

John recalled watching the fires grow closer, seeing the sky fill with smoke, and feeling the real danger creeping in.

That night, he and Chrissy packed up their four kids, four dogs, and even their pet bearded dragon Sebastian, and fled south to a hotel in Carlsbad.

Chrissy shared glimpses of their time in the hotel on social media, including videos of Sebastian, making sure fans knew all their pets were safe too.

What’s Next for the Couple

While their Beverly Hills home remained intact, the trauma from the fires has left the family weighing their future carefully.

Moving to a cooler, less fire-prone city like London or New York could offer more peace of mind.

Interestingly, this would be a change of heart after the couple sold their two penthouses in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood last year for $18 million combined.

They bought these luxury apartments in 2018 and 2020 but decided to move on.

For now, the couple’s plan seems to be holding off on any major decisions until their youngest children get a bit older.

But one thing’s clear — Chrissy and John are ready to embrace a new chapter, possibly thousands of miles away from LA’s wildfires and sunshine.
