Chris Hughes fears Olivia Attwood will replace him on This Morning as ITV bosses expand her role in London

Working with your ex is never easy — and for Chris Hughes, it’s looking like that uncomfortable scenario could be about to play out on national television.

The former Love Island star is reportedly feeling anxious and sidelined as his ex-girlfriend, Olivia Attwood, lands a high-profile gig on ITV’s This Morning.

Olivia’s Star Keeps Rising on ITV

Since her days on Love Island back in 2017, Olivia has become one of the biggest names to come out of the ITV2 dating show.

She’s a regular face on Loose Women and just last month it was announced she’ll co-host This Morning throughout the summer.

It’s a huge step in her career — and a potentially awkward one for Chris.

Chris Fears He’s Being Pushed Out

Chris, who has been working as a roving reporter on This Morning since leaving the Celebrity Big Brother house in April, had high hopes of building a more regular on-screen presence.

But Olivia’s surprise move to the same show has left him feeling uneasy.

A source revealed that Chris had no idea Olivia would be crossing over from Loose Women and had expected a quieter, more stable run this summer.

Instead, it feels like “a huge blow” and “the last thing he wants.”

Live TV With Your Ex? No Thanks

Chris is reportedly dreading the idea of having to do live segments that might include his ex.

He’s concerned that every glance, every comment, and every gesture will be picked apart by viewers — with their history adding a layer of tension that’s hard to hide.

One friend even claimed Chris would walk away from the show entirely to avoid drama.

“He doesn’t like conflict,” the friend said. “He’d rather leave than deal with it.”

Olivia’s Not Bothered… Apparently

While Chris is quietly stressed, Olivia doesn’t seem all that fazed.

According to a source close to her, she hadn’t even considered the possibility of awkwardness with Chris.

Though she wouldn’t exactly be thrilled to speak to him, she’d stay professional and focus on the job.

Their relationship, after all, ended years ago — and not on the best terms.

From Toxic Romance to Separate Careers

Chris and Olivia’s romance fizzled quickly after Love Island.

They had their own reality show, Crackin’ On, but split mid-filming in 2018.

Olivia has since described their time together as “toxic” and admitted they “hated” each other after the villa.

She’s now married to footballer Bradley Dack, whom she reunited with after her breakup with Chris.

Public Digs and Past Grievances

Chris has been back in the headlines recently thanks to his surprising romance with American singer JoJo Siwa, which blossomed during Celebrity Big Brother.

Olivia has publicly mocked the relationship, calling it “creepy” and even claiming she needed therapy after dating Chris.

In a TikTok video, she joked that seeing Chris with JoJo was enough to send her back to therapy again.

She also threw shade at his behaviour in the Big Brother house, suggesting he was “hamming it up” and “acting for the cameras.”

Chris, on the other hand, has mostly stayed silent about Olivia — but friends say he’s hurt by her public comments.

ITV’s History of Behind-the-Scenes Drama

This Morning isn’t new to drama. After Phillip Schofield’s shocking exit in 2023 following revelations about a workplace relationship, the show has been under the microscope.

Holly Willoughby also left after a terrifying alleged kidnap plot and a fallout with Phillip that ended their friendship.

Other feuds have played out too — like Ruth Langsford’s complaint about being cut off on air and Eamonn Holmes’ scathing public remarks about Phillip.

Even in the current lineup, Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary admitted it took time to build chemistry, and viewers have been mixed about the new main presenters, Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.

ITV Tries to Keep the Peace

As for Chris and Olivia, insiders say ITV bosses are determined to keep them apart on screen.

It’s believed there’s room for both, and ITV is well-practiced in keeping feuding presenters from crossing paths.

So, while the awkwardness might be looming off-screen, don’t expect any dramatic live clashes… at least, not unless someone forgets to update the studio rota.
