Chris Eubank Jr admits his rematch with Conor Benn in London is still hanging in the balance as contract talks drag on behind the scenes

Boxing fans have been eagerly waiting for the explosive rematch between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn — but now, it seems the fight may not be as certain as everyone thought.

Despite months of hype and promotion, Eubank Jr has revealed that the final contract for their November 15 showdown at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium still hasn’t been signed off.

Eubank Jr Admits Talks Are Still Ongoing

Speaking candidly on Ring Magazine’s Inside the Ring podcast, the 35-year-old boxer admitted that negotiations are still taking place behind the scenes.
“These are not easy waters to navigate,” he said. “The final contract for this fight hasn’t even been fully agreed on yet.

There are still a few things that need to be smoothed out.”

Eubank Jr explained that certain parts of the deal remain under discussion but didn’t go into specifics, only adding, “It’s up to me and my team to get the best deal possible.”

Previous Weight Drama Still Lingers

This wouldn’t be the first time the Eubank–Benn rivalry has hit turbulence.

Their first clash on April 26 was a fiery 12-round battle that saw Eubank Jr win by unanimous decision — and take home a £10 million purse.

However, the victory came at a cost. Eubank Jr was fined £375,000 for failing to make weight.

The rematch is again expected to take place at 160lbs with a 10lb rehydration clause, but that very issue might be one of the sticking points.

Promoter Confirms the Rehydration Clause Is a Problem

Eubank’s promoter, Ben Shalom, previously hinted that the weight rules remain a serious concern.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Shalom said the rehydration clause had been a major sticking point during negotiations.
“We aren’t happy with the rehydration clause,” he explained. “Chris isn’t committed to it again, at least not yet.

The first time it was presented to us as an ultimatum — take it or the fight’s off.”

Shalom went on to call the clause “unhealthy” and said such restrictions should be banned from boxing entirely.

The Rivalry Boils Over at the Press Conference

If the contract drama wasn’t enough, tempers flared during a tense press conference last month.

The atmosphere turned sour when Eubank Jr refused to let promoter Eddie Hearn — representing Benn — speak, even as Hearn tried to pay tribute to the late Ricky Hatton.

“Just firstly, 30 seconds on Ricky Hatton,” Hearn began, before Eubank Jr cut him off sharply: “Come on Eddie, there’s no 30 seconds. You know the drill.”

A furious Hearn fired back, calling Eubank Jr an “a**hole” and accusing him of disrespect.

Eubank Jr, however, stood his ground, telling Hearn, “I don’t want to hear any of your words. Let’s move on with the press conference.”

Fractured Relations and Uncertain Future

The relationship between both camps has always been fragile, and this latest revelation about the contract could worry fans who’ve already bought tickets or planned trips for November’s fight.

Still, with millions on the line and global attention on the event, most believe both sides will find a way to make it happen.

As one insider put it — “There’s simply too much money to walk away from.”

What Happens Next

For now, the countdown to November 15 continues, but whether the fight officially goes ahead as planned depends on how quickly both camps can settle their remaining disputes.

Eubank Jr and Benn might be ready to throw punches in the ring — but until that ink dries on the contract, it’s the negotiations outside the ropes that could decide the real winner.
