After becoming household names for their witty takes and cozy TV nights, Roisin and Joe—one of the most beloved Gogglebox couples—have shared some bittersweet news.

The Scottish duo revealed in a heartfelt message that they won’t be returning for the show’s next season, and fans are gutted.

The Announcement That Broke Hearts on TikTok

The couple took to TikTok to break the news, and their statement had viewers reaching for tissues.

“After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa, Channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26,” Roisin explained.

“Therefore, we are leaving the Gogglebox family.”

She added how thankful they were for the opportunity and the wild experience it had been, saying, “We’ll miss watching TV with you all on Friday nights!”

Representing Scotland Proudly on the Sofa

One thing that stood out in Roisin’s message was how proud they were to represent Scotland on the national stage.

She joked, “It’s been an honor to prove we don’t actually need subtitles,” a cheeky nod to how Scottish accents are often subtitled on TV.

A Loving Shoutout to Their Gogglebox Crew

The couple didn’t forget the people behind the scenes who helped bring their living room antics to the screen.

Roisin shared a special thank-you to their filming team—Jason, Ayse, Rich, Eilish, Ewan, Evie, Seve, David, Stef, AJ, and Odin—as well as Harriet, who was apparently always available on the phone.

“You have become like our family,” she wrote, adding that they’ve made friends for life.

A Flood of Memes and Fan Support

True to form, Roisin added a few memes to soften the blow.

One particularly cheeky meme featured Toy Story’s Sid dropping Woody, with Sid labeled as Channel 4 and Woody as “Me and Joe,” complete with the quote: “I don’t want to play with you anymore.”

Fans quickly filled the comment section with love. One wrote, “No way, definitely the best in there.

We love you and Joe.” Another added, “That’s rubbish, loved you two on Gogglebox.”

Channel 4 Responds With Kind Words

A spokesperson from Channel 4 acknowledged the duo’s contribution to the series, saying, “We thank Joe and Roisin for their contributions to Gogglebox over the years, and wish them all the best for the future.”

A Look Back at Gogglebox’s Legacy

Gogglebox has been a major part of British TV since it first aired in 2013.

Over 25 series and seven celebrity editions have come and gone, bringing with them countless laughs and unforgettable moments.

The show has won major accolades, including the NTA’s Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award in 2023 and a BAFTA in 2022.

Spin-offs like Gogglesprogs and Vlogglebox have also given the format new life, and international versions have popped up everywhere from Australia to Ukraine.

What Comes Next for Roisin and Joe?

While there’s no word yet on their next move, Roisin hinted they’re looking forward to relaxing, joking, “Time to watch TV in silence for a bit and put down the popcorn.”

With their contract now finished, fans are already speculating whether brand partnerships or other TV appearances might be in the cards.

The Future of Gogglebox

Season 25 wrapped in May 2025, and while Channel 4 hasn’t officially announced when Season 26 will air, it’s expected to return in its usual autumn slot—likely around September or October.

Until then, fans can catch reruns or stream episodes on channel4.com every Friday night.

A Warm Farewell, But Not Goodbye

Though Roisin and Joe are stepping away from the Gogglebox sofa, it’s clear their warmth, humor, and down-to-earth charm have made a lasting mark.

Their presence will definitely be missed—but knowing their fans, this probably isn’t the last we’ll see of them.
