Cat Found Living in Skip Eight Months After Owners Emigrated
A family in Bridgend, Wales, were recently reunited with their cat, Tommy, after he was discovered living in a skip eight months after they moved to Spain.
The family had left Tommy with relatives while they settled into their new home overseas but, upon returning to collect him, they discovered he had gone missing.
Despite searching extensively for their pet, they eventually accepted that they may never see him again and returned to Spain with only his sister, Maisie.
However, they were recently given the good news that Tommy was alive and had been spotted living rough in the nearby Parc Derwen area.
Living Rough
After being found living in a skip and “roughing it” on the streets for months, Tommy was taken to Maesteg Animal Welfare Society to be scanned for a microchip.
His owners were then informed and were “ecstatic” to hear that he was still alive.
The family will soon be reunited with their pet, with plans for him to be couriered to the airport and flown to Spain to start a new life in the sun.
Commentary
Tommy’s story is a heartwarming reminder of the strong bond between pets and their owners.
It is remarkable that he was able to survive for so long on the streets, especially given his age of twelve.
The fact that he was eventually found living in a skip highlights the importance of microchipping pets, as this was the key factor that enabled his owners to be informed of his whereabouts.
Overall, this story serves as a testament to the resilience of animals and the joy that they bring into our lives.
