Manchester United’s Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has made it clear that he plans to honor his contract at Old Trafford, despite reports linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Having joined the club from Real Madrid for £60 million in 2022, Casemiro has faced challenges this season, including limited playing time under new manager Ruben Amorim.
Recently, the 33-year-old started his first match since December during the 1-0 loss to Tottenham, but he struggled to make an impact on the field.
Casemiro’s Commitment to Manchester United
Despite the challenges, Casemiro remains committed to Manchester United.
In an interview with Spanish outlet AS, he expressed his determination to stay at the club for the remainder of his contract, which has a year and a half to run.
He said, “I have a lot of life left in me,” stressing that he still has plenty to give to the team.
The midfielder acknowledged the frustration of not playing as much as he would like, saying, “Of course, I’d like to play more.
I don’t know any player who doesn’t want to play and help the team.” Nevertheless, he emphasized his respect for his teammates, the coaching staff, and the club.
He continued, “I have a year and a half left on my contract and I’d like to fulfill it here in Manchester. I’m comfortable here, and so is my family.
We speak English now and we feel settled.”
Casemiro’s View on Saudi Arabian Interest
Casemiro’s remarks come after reports emerged last month that Saudi clubs, including Al-Nassr and Al-Qadsiah, were interested in signing him.
While Al-Ittihad expressed interest in the 32-year-old last summer, many Saudi clubs have already filled their foreign player quotas, which limited their ability to pursue new recruits in the winter transfer window.
The Brazilian’s £350,000-per-week wage makes him one of Manchester United’s highest earners, and it was previously suggested that the club could be willing to sell him.
However, Casemiro made it clear in his interview that his intention is to remain at the club and continue contributing.
Casemiro Reflects on Vinicius Jr’s Future
In the same interview, Casemiro also touched on the possibility of his former Real Madrid teammate, Vinicius Jr, making a move to Saudi Arabia.
Reports had surfaced that the Saudi Pro League was preparing a significant bid for the talented winger.
Casemiro offered his perspective, saying, “If I were to speak to you as a fan, I would tell you to look at how important it is to make history in football, in your career.
You’ve already done so much, but there’s still more to come.”
However, he acknowledged that the decision was ultimately personal, adding, “As a fan, the nice thing is to continue watching you with Real Madrid.”
Looking Ahead to the Future
As Casemiro looks forward to continuing his career at Manchester United, it’s clear that he’s focused on maintaining his high level of performance for the remainder of his contract.
While speculation about a move to Saudi Arabia swirls, the veteran midfielder’s commitment to the club and his desire to see out his contract suggests he’ll remain an integral part of the team for the foreseeable future.
