Sabri Lamouchi has expressed his enthusiasm for Cardiff City’s plans to construct a new training ground for their first team, considering it to be good news.
The club reported a £29 million operating loss in their annual accounts for the 2021/22 season, with a heavy reliance on the principal owner Vincent Tan.
The financial situation portrayed in the accounts was discouraging; however, supporters were heartened to see measures taken to futureproof the club.
Mehmet Dalman, the non-executive chairman, outlined two infrastructure projects to be completed in the coming years: a new academy site in Llanrumney and a new first-team training base near the Vale Resort in the Vale of Glamorgan.
These projects aim to improve the club’s infrastructure and ensure that it achieves its goal of returning to the Premier League and maintaining its status for the foreseeable future.
The idea of Cardiff owning its training ground has been discussed for over a decade. Presently, the club pays a considerable rent fee to use the facilities, along with other sporting bodies such as the Welsh Rugby Union and the Football Association of Wales.
Lamouchi believes that a club of Cardiff’s size should have its training facilities, and the Frenchman considers Tan and the board’s investment and planning for the future a positive sign.
Cardiff captain Joe Ralls agrees with his manager, and both believe that the two projects will benefit both the current crop of players and the next generation coming through.
Providing the best facilities for young players is always going to be a positive, and the club’s efforts to improve the academy site and training base are commendable.
In conclusion, Cardiff City’s investment in building its infrastructure is a step towards futureproofing the club, and the construction of a new training site is a welcome development.
Despite the club’s harsh financial reality, Lamouchi and Ralls believe that investing in the academy, youngsters, infrastructure, and training camp is a positive move towards the future.»Cardiff City’s plans to construct a new training ground«
