Cape Town City Pursues Sinesipho Mali as Head of Analysis and Scouting Amid Major Club Restructuring in South Africa

Cape Town City Pursues Sinesipho Mali as Head of Analysis and Scouting Amid Major Club Restructuring in South Africa

Cape Town City is undergoing some major changes at the club, with a fresh focus on revamping its technical department.

Among the significant moves, one of their top priorities is securing a new Head of Analysis and Scouting.

Recent reports suggest that Sinesipho Mali, an analyst currently with Sekhukhune United, is a strong candidate for the role.

Major Shifts Taking Place at Cape Town City

This season has been one of transformation for Cape Town City.

The club made the decision to part ways with head coach Eric Tinkler, signaling the beginning of a new chapter.

Following Tinkler’s departure, Muhsin Ertugral was appointed as the club’s Technical Director, with him stepping in as the interim head coach.

But the changes didn’t stop there.

The club has been linked to former Ajax Cape Town coach Andries Ulderink, who could potentially take on the head coach position, further indicating the restructuring taking place.

Legal Troubles Add to the Club’s Struggles

On top of these changes, Cape Town City found itself in the midst of a legal battle that has added even more turmoil.

Grant Veitch, the club’s former Head of Development, found himself at the center of a fraud scandal.

The club filed charges against Veitch, accusing him of stealing R32,000 from chairman John Comitis.

Veitch, who resigned from his position on January 31, 2025, after accepting a job with the international agency Roc Nation, was arrested on February 19, 2025, and appeared in court just days later.

Despite the seriousness of the charges, he was granted bail at R5,000, with no conditions.

Mali Could Be the Key to the Club’s Future Success

Despite the ongoing legal drama, Cape Town City is still focused on strengthening its squad and technical operations.

The club is eyeing Sinesipho Mali, who has a strong background in football analysis and scouting, to fill the crucial role of Head of Analysis and Scouting.

Mali, who has worked with Bafana Bafana as a performance and video analyst, played a key role in the team’s success at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, helping them secure a bronze medal.

He has also gained valuable experience as a performance manager at Chippa United and as an analyst and scout for Kaizer Chiefs.

Mali’s Strong Relationship with Ertugral May Seal the Deal

Though the move has not been officially confirmed, rumors suggest that Mali could be joining Cape Town City for the 2025/2026 season.

His strong working relationship with Muhsin Ertugral, the club’s Technical Director, is expected to play a significant role in this potential move.

Once confirmed, Mali’s appointment would represent another important step in the club’s ongoing transformation.

With his expertise in football analysis and scouting, Cape Town City is aiming to build a strong foundation for a successful future.
