Cadbury, the popular confectioner, has issued an urgent warning about six types of its chocolate pudding, fearing that they may be contaminated with listeria.
The bacteria can cause listeriosis, which can have severe consequences for some individuals, though it is harmless for many.

Refrigerated foods are at the highest risk of carrying listeria, although it can be found in any food type.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) raised the alarm over six specific Cadbury puddings, urging people to check their use-by date.
Affected Puddings and Precautionary Steps
Mueller, which produces the Cadbury desserts, took precautionary measures following the FSA’s warning.
The impacted puds include the single-sale 75g Crunchie, Daim, Flake, Dairy Milk Buttons, Dairy Milk Chunks, and Cadbury Heroes puddings carrying the use-by date of May 18.

Those with May 17 use-by dates for Crunchy or Flake need to be recalled.
Consumers who have purchased the impacted puddings can return them to the store for a full refund, regardless of whether or not they have a receipt.
Symptoms and Vulnerable Populations
Listeria infections can cause flu-like symptoms, including high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick, and diarrhea.
Listeriosis can result in severe complications such as meningitis, with vulnerable populations including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one-month-old, and people with weakened immune systems.
