Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday 12th of December, 2020 appointed Effiong Okon Akwa to be the Interim Administrator of the Nigeria Delta Development Commission NDDC.
His appointment was revealed in a tweet stating that the appointment was necessary because of the numerous court cases and the restraining order that the federal high court in Abuja placed on the current Interim Management Committee IMC.
The IMC was previously in charge of the NDDC before their restraining orders from the court. The head of IMC, Prof. kemebradikumo Pondei is currently facing a N40billion corruption charge during his time as the head of the committee.
Prof. kemebradikumo Pondei collapsed during his hearing in the House of Representatives concerning how he spent the amount he was charged for mismanaging.
The new Interim Administrator is also a fellow of ICAN and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
