Fashion lovers, history buffs, and royal fans alike have a reason to look forward to 2026.

In what promises to be a stunning celebration of royal elegance, Buckingham Palace is preparing to open the doors to the largest-ever exhibition of Queen Elizabeth II’s wardrobe—and it’s set to be a truly majestic tribute.

A Century of Royal Style on Display

Timed to mark what would have been the Queen’s 100th birthday, the exhibition will feature around 200 pieces of clothing and accessories worn by Her Majesty across every stage of her life—from childhood to her reign as the longest-serving British monarch.

Many of these garments will be on public display for the very first time, giving visitors a unique opportunity to step through the decades of royal fashion, diplomacy, and personal style.

From Childhood Dresses to Crowning Gowns

Among the standout pieces is a silver lame and tulle bridesmaid dress worn by a young Princess Elizabeth in 1934 at just eight years old.

She wore it to the wedding of her uncle, the Duke of Kent, to Princess Marina of Greece—a tender moment of history preserved in fabric.

Also making an appearance are the Queen’s legendary wedding and coronation gowns, designed by the renowned Norman Hartnell.

These gowns are more than garments—they’re iconic cultural touchstones, representing two of the most pivotal moments in British royal history.

More Than Just Dresses—A Look Into Royal Diplomacy

This isn’t just a showcase of fine tailoring and luxury.

The exhibition will also dive into how the Queen cleverly used fashion as a form of diplomacy.

A key example is a white Hartnell gown worn during a 1961 state banquet in Karachi, which subtly included a pleated emerald-green detail in honor of Pakistan’s national colors—a graceful nod to international relations woven into couture.

Visitors will also get to see jewellery, hats, shoes, handbags, design sketches, and fabric swatches, making it clear just how much thought and detail went into every look she wore.

When and Where to See It

Titled “Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style,” the exhibition will take over parts of Buckingham Palace from spring through autumn 2026.

It promises to be one of the most anticipated royal events of the year, blending fashion, history, and personal tribute.

And if you’re eager to go, you won’t have to wait too long—tickets go on sale in November 2025.
