A devastating discovery was made this morning when a 37-year-old British tourist was found dead following the infamous Full Moon Party in Thailand.
The man, who had been celebrating on the island of Koh Phangan, was reportedly intoxicated after drinking cheap shots.
Authorities believe he attempted to find his way home from the event but tragically collapsed before reaching his destination.
The Final Hours
Before his death, the tourist is said to have visited a cash machine to withdraw money, likely in preparation to pay for a taxi.
However, shortly after 6:30 AM, he was found unresponsive at the foot of the steps outside a 7-Eleven store.
Police and paramedics arrived soon after, but despite their efforts, they were unable to revive him.
Authorities suspect the man had consumed both alcohol and drugs at the Full Moon Party.
Searching for Clues
The deceased was barefoot, lying next to an open plastic water bottle.
In his pocket, police found his driver’s license, which revealed his name and address.
Lieutenant Colonel Arun Kamlangkeo from the Koh Phangan Police Station confirmed that the man was British and had been living abroad.
Authorities are now investigating the mysterious local who allegedly gave the man a ride back to his hotel before disappearing.
Attempting to Get Home
Witnesses at the party recall seeing the tourist drunk at Hat Rin Beach, the venue for the Full Moon Party.
After the event, he struggled to find a way back to his accommodation, unable to afford the taxi fare.
He reportedly met a local who agreed to take him to his hotel after the tourist promised to pay once he withdrew money.
The local dropped him off, and he appeared visibly exhausted, likely due to partying all night.
Investigating the Cause
Police have ruled out foul play, as there were no signs of assault.
They are now considering the possibility that the man’s death was due to either alcohol intoxication or a drug overdose.
Authorities are waiting on the results of his blood tests and are currently questioning the local who gave him a ride.
Security camera footage is also being reviewed for any additional clues.
A Dark Side of the Full Moon Party
Thailand’s Full Moon Party, held every month on Koh Phangan, has become notorious for its chaotic atmosphere, fueled by cheap drinks and a variety of drugs.
With cannabis now legalized on the island, substances like magic mushrooms, kratom, methamphetamine, and LSD are commonly available during the event.
While the party attracts thousands of backpackers from around the world, incidents like this serve as a grim reminder of the dangers that can accompany such a wild celebration.
