Your Excellency the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Chairman of the IEBC, Being here today makes me very happy.

The UK firmly believes in accountable, responsible governments that rule for all of their citizens.

This will be Kenya’s third election after the 2010 constitution was ratified.

The 9th August general election, like every prior election, is a crucial chance for Kenyans to choose the leaders who will represent them in accordance with their constitutionally granted rights.

Kenya’s sovereignty should be respected, and the UK does not interfere in Kenyan elections.

At the IEBC’s request, our three-year Kenya Elections Support Project (KESP) has offered focused assistance.

UK election assistance in Kenya The IEBC’s efforts to get ready for the 2022 general elections have achieved progress, which the UK government applauds.

Kenya’s friend, the UK, appeals to everyone participating in all six forms of elections, as well as the people they represent, to do their share to ensure free, fair, credible, and peaceful elections. I thank you and wish you luck.

The Kenyan people have a say in who they elect. We continue to be unbiased.

We are satisfied with the steps taken by the IEBC in accordance with its Elections Operations Plan and Strategic Plan to get ready for the general elections in 2022. Kenya’s sovereignty is respected by the UK.

The UK government requests that everyone who will be voting in all six sorts of elections, as well as the people they will be representing, do their part to ensure free, fair, credible, and peaceful elections.

I commend the IEBC for organizing the National Elections Conference, which I am confident will be a success.

The autonomous institutions that represent the will of the people should prevail in the Kenyan elections in 2022.
