A British couple, Craig and Lindsay Foreman, are facing a difficult and distressing situation after being arrested in Iran while on their round-the-world motorcycle journey.
The couple, both in their early 50s, were taken into custody in January on unclear security charges, with the news first being reported by state-run media.
Arrest in Kerman
Craig, a carpenter, and Lindsay, a life coach, crossed into Iran from Armenia on December 30.
Their journey was supposed to take them through the country, continuing on their way to Australia.
After visiting Tabriz, Tehran, and Isfahan, the couple never made it to their next stop in Kerman, where they were later detained.
The Foreign Office has confirmed that the couple is currently being held in Kerman.
Family Speaks Out
The Foreman family has expressed their deep concern, emphasizing the emotional strain caused by the situation.
In a statement, they described the events as “distressing” and shared their ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of Craig and Lindsay.
The family also acknowledged the support they’ve received from friends, family, and the wider community, which has been a source of strength.
“We are actively engaging with the British government and relevant authorities, working diligently to navigate the complexities of this matter,” the statement read.
The family requested privacy during this trying time and asked that all media inquiries be directed to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
The Couple’s Journey and Background
The Foremans had only passed their motorcycle tests last year before setting off on their grand adventure.
They had planned to leave Iran by January 4 as part of their ongoing trip.
However, their dream journey has now taken a devastating turn.
The British government, in light of these events, has continued to advise against all travel to Iran, as tensions in the region remain high.
They warn that British nationals, including those with dual citizenship, face a significant risk of arrest, detention, or questioning, simply due to their nationality.
This remains an unfolding story, and more details are expected as the situation develops.
