TRAGIC ACCIDENT IN BREEDE VALLEY

The Breede Valley Municipality said the N1 highway between De Doorns and Worcester, in the Western Cape, was closed in the wake of the accident on Wednesday.
“A heavy motor vehicle that was travelling on the N1 ploughed through a house near the road,” said the municipality.
The truck driver succumbed to his injuries while the residents were unharmed. The house was not as fortunate and will need to be demolished in order to deal with the wreckage, said the municipality. The local government promised to do “everything in its powers” to help the residents.
Another vehicle was also involved in the crash. All the relevant emergency services – as well as the deputy mayor – responded to the scene.
