A Brazilian Mayor’s Marriage to a 16-Year-Old ‘Princess’ Beauty Queen
The Mayor of Araucaria, Hissam Hussein Dehaini, 65, recently tied the knot with 16-year-old Kauane Rode Camargo, who was the runner-up in last year’s Miss Araucária contest in the teen category.
The news of their marriage made headlines, as Dehaini has been married six times before and has 16 children, one of whom is deceased.
However, what further added fuel to the controversy is that Dehaini promoted Camargo’s mother, Marilene Rode, to Secretary of Culture of Araucária, just a day after the wedding.
Mayor’s Controversial Past
This is not the first time Dehaini has faced controversy.
In 2000, he was investigated by the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on Drug Trafficking charges and was even arrested.
Although he declared himself innocent of any connection with drug trafficking rings, he was charged with maintaining a drug refining laboratory, protecting traffickers, and paying the police for protection.
Dehaini’s Departure from the Citizenship Party
Dehaini announced his departure from the Citizenship Party after news of his marriage to the teenager.
He had been affiliated with the party since 2009, and in his resignation statement, he expressed his appreciation for the coexistence he had with the party.
Ongoing Investigation
The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Paraná (MPPR) has launched an investigation into the promotion of Kauane’s mother, Marilene Rode, to Secretary of Culture of Araucária.
Banda B reported that the promotion has raised questions, especially given its timing, just a day after the wedding.
However, according to the Municipality of Araucaria, Marilene Rode meets the necessary conditions for the position, having 26 years of experience.
