Boxer’s Racist Outburst After Drunken Brawl
A boxer named Joseph Bretland, aged 24, was involved in a drunken brawl at Parnells cafe and sports bar in Crosby, north Liverpool, on January 22.
He was accompanied by his fiancée and a friend at the time.
The boxer, also known as Joe, was left bloodied and unconscious, and he has no recollection of how he sustained his injuries.
As he was being arrested, he became aggressive and verbally abused the police officers on the scene, including PC Trebilcock, whom he referred to as a ‘b**** a**e n*****’.
Bretland has since pleaded guilty to racially aggravated threatening behavior.

Boxing Career and Previous Success
Bretland is a super welterweight fighter who achieved success as an amateur and semi-professional boxer in his youth.
At the age of 18, he even won his first professional fight against Northern Irishman Marty Kayes.
However, his recent behavior has tarnished his reputation and jeopardized his future career prospects.
Consequences of Bretland’s Actions
As a result of his behavior, Bretland has been ordered to pay £150 to PC Trebilcock, the police officer he racially abused.
He was also fined £566 with £346 in costs and a victim surcharge.
Additionally, his racist outburst has tarnished his reputation, and he has let himself and his family down.
He has a two-year-old child and is the sole breadwinner of his family.
His lawyer, Marcela Slater, stated that Bretland was “thoroughly ashamed of himself” and is remorseful for his actions.
