Big Brother star Henry Southan slams Jeremy Clarkson’s roast dinner during Father’s Day trip to The Farmer’s Dog pub in Oxfordshire

What was supposed to be a charming Father’s Day outing turned into a social media roast — literally.

Henry Southan, former Big Brother contestant and now a TikTok-famous food critic, recently paid a visit to Jeremy Clarkson’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog, nestled near Burford in Oxfordshire.

The plan? Treat his dad to a traditional Sunday roast.

The result? A viral review filled with dry beef, long walks, and the EastEnders theme on piano.

TikTok Roast: “Interesting” Isn’t Always a Compliment

In his latest TikTok video posted Tuesday, 26-year-old Henry didn’t hold back.

He joked that arriving at the overflow car park felt like trekking into Glastonbury Festival.

Despite having a reservation, he had to walk a long way just to reach the pub, which clearly didn’t start things on the right foot.

“This better be the best roast I’ve ever had to justify the parking pain,” he groaned to the camera, sounding both dramatic and slightly defeated.

Dry Meat and Soggy Spuds

When the food finally arrived, things didn’t get much better.

Henry filmed himself chewing through the £26 beef and pork roast, telling his dad, “You were right about the beef — it’s really dry.”

He followed up with a bite of pork and echoed the same verdict.

Then came a close-up of his roast potatoes, which he described as lacking any sort of crispness.

If that wasn’t enough, the pub piano randomly started playing the EastEnders theme tune in the background — a detail Henry seemed genuinely puzzled by.

Mixed Reactions in the Comments Section

As with most viral food reviews, opinions were divided.

Some followers criticized Henry’s expectations, saying Clarkson’s pub is about supporting British farming, not offering fine dining.

One user quipped, “He opened a rural pub, not a fancy restaurant for the rich.”

Others were more sympathetic, agreeing the food had been “mid” at best during their own visits.

Clarkson’s Side of the Pub Life

Jeremy Clarkson has been open about the struggles of running The Farmer’s Dog since it opened in August.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he quickly shut down questions about the pub with a single word: “Don’t.”

He’s previously admitted the pub is losing around £10 per customer due to his strict commitment to using only British-grown produce — even the salt and pepper.

According to Clarkson, it costs about 0.74p to make sausages from local pork compared to just 0.18p with imported meat.

He knows it’s expensive, but says it’s about fixing a broken food system.

A Pub for Farmers Only (Upstairs, That Is)

The pub also has a private upstairs bar exclusively for farmers — a VIP area of sorts.

And while customers have been lining up to pay £6 for a pint of Hawkstone beer or £18 for bangers and mash, not everyone is thrilled about the prices.

One Instagram user called them “sick” and accused the pub of exploiting its TV fame.

Clarkson, however, has defended the menu, insisting that every ingredient is British-sourced and fairly priced considering the costs of local production.

What’s on the Menu?

If you’re still curious about what The Farmer’s Dog offers, here’s a quick taste:

  • Sausage & mash: £18

  • Gammon steak: £19

  • Steak pie & mash: £19

  • Veggie and cheddar crumble: £15

  • Pints of Hawkstone beer: £6

  • Desserts like crumble and cheesecake: £8

Even alcohol-free cans of Hawkstone Spa Lager go for £3.10 — it’s clearly not your average local.
