Saturday, January 29, 2022 – Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Mwangi Kiunjuri, has dismissed claims that he had joined former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja Movement.

On Wednesday, Jubilee Party Vice-chairman, David Murathe, claimed Kiunjuri, who is also The Service Party (TSP) leader, had joined Raila Odinga’s bandwagon.

But in a quick rejoinder on Friday, Kiunjuri said he had not joined Raila’s Azimio and insisted his party will field a presidential candidate in August.

“One of our senior leaders from Jubilee and Azimio purported to issue a statement whereby he masqueraded to speak on our behalf, that TSP is in talks or already in Azimio,” he said.

“I want to make it very clear that we have never had any discussion with Azimio or any of their leaders…we have never opened that kind of a platform with them, and we’re not ready to open any discussion with any party for now.”

He further added: “We said clearly two months ago that we shall be announcing in March who we’re going to support as the next president of Kenya.”
