Biden will spend Thanksgiving with his family on Nantucket

According to family custom, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will spend Thanksgiving on Nantucket with other members of their extended family.

The Bidens and their two-year-old grandson Beau thanked the firemen at a Nantucket firehouse for their dedication. They will also phone military personnel to express gratitude for their service.

Mr. Biden and the first lady contacted NBC’s Dylan Dreyer when she was broadcasting from New York’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Mr. Biden expressed gratitude for emergency personnel.

The first lady stated that they planned to have supper followed by a beach stroll.

Naomi, the granddaughter of Hunter Biden and his ex-wife Kathleen Buhle, was married at the White House last week.

According to Jill Biden’s autobiography “Where the Light Enters,” the Bidens began spending their first Thanksgiving together in Nantucket. She said that Mr. Biden’s then-chief of staff recommended Nantucket, where they stayed in a waterfront villa.

Jill said that Thanksgiving on Nantucket became a family ritual for the following four decades. Since then, with a few exceptions, we have made the journey annually, establishing rituals that have become integral to our family.

In 2001, the late son of the Bidens, Beau Biden, proposed to his wife Hallie at the annual Nantucket tree lighting, and they were married at St. Mary’s Church in downtown Nantucket.

Jill Biden noted that the family did not visit Nantucket in 2015, the first Thanksgiving after Beau’s passing. The next year, though, their grandkids requested to return to Nantucket.

She wrote, “Thanksgiving was Nantucket.” “They missed the small stores, the ice cream shop we frequented frequently, and the regular Friday meal. They desired to observe the lighting of the Christmas tree and explore the cobblestone alleys. They desired to be united. To feel normal once more.

According to Mr. Biden’s biography “Promise Me, Dad,” Beau and his younger son Hunter urged him to run for president on Nantucket in 2014. “‘Father, you must run!'” Mr. Biden claimed that Beau informed him, and that Hunter told him, “We want you to run.”

Mr. Biden decided not to run for president in 2016 because of Beau’s brain cancer struggle.

Beau Biden died in May 2015.

Mr. Biden has not officially announced whether he would run for president in 2024, although he told “60 Minutes” in September that he “intends” to do so. ” Mr. Biden stated, “However, this is only a plan.” “But is it decided that I will run again? That is yet to be determined.”

Former President Donald Trump, whom Joe Biden beat in 2020, declared his candidacy for the presidency in 2024 last week.
