It’s been more than half a century since Barbara Eden first stepped out of her famous pink genie bottle, but at 94 years old, she continues to captivate audiences with the same sparkle she had back in the 1960s.
The Hollywood icon celebrated her birthday this past weekend, and fans from all over the world came together to shower her with love and admiration.
A Radiant Birthday Celebration
Barbara marked her milestone with a joyful post on Instagram, showing off her classic Jeannie-inspired pose in a bright blue patterned blouse.
Her team shared the heartfelt caption:
“Let’s all take a moment to wish our favorite blonde, entertainment icon and Hollywood legend Barbara Eden a very, VERY Happy Birthday today!”
They encouraged fans to send their birthday wishes, and the comments quickly filled with tributes from stars and admirers alike.

The well-wishes came pouring in. Jennie Garth of Beverly Hills, 90210 fame excitedly wrote, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARBARA. I Love you!”
Paris Hilton, who once dressed as Jeannie for Halloween, called her an “icon” in her Instagram Story, while Caroline Rhea, known from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, lovingly dubbed her an “ageless beauty.”
Remembering I Dream of Jeannie
Of course, Eden is best remembered for her role in I Dream of Jeannie, the hit sitcom that ran from 1965 to 1970.
She played the mischievous but lovable genie who fell for her astronaut “master,” portrayed by Larry Hagman.
Eden remains the last surviving main cast member of the Emmy-nominated show, which became a cultural touchstone of its era.
Her Secret to Youthful Energy
Barbara has often been asked about her secret to staying vibrant through the years.
In a 2023 interview with People, she reflected that true joy comes from being able to work in a field you genuinely love.
She explained that while many are forced to take jobs they dislike, she considers it a blessing to have been able to follow her passion and bring joy to others along the way.
In 2024, she told Fox News that she also credits a mindful lifestyle.
While her days of intense gym workouts are behind her, she now sticks to light exercise—using a stationary bike and lifting small weights to maintain strength and bone health.
From Early Roles to Genie Fame
Long before she became a household name, Eden began her career with comedy skits on The Johnny Carson Show in 1956.
Small roles in classics like I Love Lucy and The Andy Griffith Show followed before she was cast as Jeannie.
Interestingly, the show was created in response to the success of Bewitched, another sitcom featuring a magical blonde.
And while Jeannie’s costume became iconic, it was considered daring at the time—TV censors even banned Eden from showing her belly button until the restriction was lifted in the 1980s.
Beyond the Screen
Barbara has never slowed down when it comes to connecting with fans.
She published her memoir Jeannie Out of the Bottle in 2011 and a children’s book Barbara and the Djinn in 2021.
She also remains a beloved presence at fan conventions, where she often delights audiences with stories, Q&As, and the occasional Jeannie pose.
As she prepares to appear at the FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention this September, she remains in awe of the loyalty of her fanbase.
“They’re the best fans in the whole world,” she said.
“Sometimes they even know more about my work than I do!”
Still Sprinkling Her Magic
At 94, Barbara Eden has shown that her magic never fades.
With her glowing smile, boundless charm, and ability to connect across generations, she continues to prove that she’s not just a TV legend—she’s a timeless treasure.
