26-year-old author Ashley St. Clair recently revealed how she crossed paths with Elon Musk, the South African-born billionaire, and what she says led to them having a child together.
A DM Connection
Ashley shared her story in a statement on February 14, 2025, where she claimed to have welcomed a baby with Elon Musk about five months ago.
Although Musk has not confirmed or denied this claim, St. Clair went on to explain how she initially met him.
According to her, their first connection happened on X (formerly Twitter) through direct messages.
She recalls Musk being down-to-earth and funny, adding that their conversation started over a meme.
“He was very funny, smart, and down-to-earth. It started with some X interactions, and he slid into my DMs. I think it was a meme,” she said.
The Conversations That Led to Something More
St. Clair said that after their first exchange, Musk asked if she ever visited San Francisco or Austin.
She replied that she was often in Austin for work, noting that at the time she worked for the conservative satirical website Babylon Bee.
It turns out, Musk had been involved with the site as well.
After a joke about a transgender Biden administration official got the Babylon Bee account suspended, Musk reportedly helped restore it.
Seth Dillon, the CEO of Babylon Bee, then asked St. Clair to fly to San Francisco for an interview with Musk.
Afterward, she said Musk sent her a text asking if she wanted to go to Providence, Rhode Island, that same night.
From there, St. Clair claims their romance blossomed, eventually leading to her pregnancy.
Welcoming a Baby in Privacy
In her statement, St. Clair mentioned that she hadn’t revealed the news about her child earlier because she wanted to protect her baby’s privacy.
“Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father,” she wrote.
She further explained that recent tabloid media attention led her to finally share the news, despite the harm it might cause.
“I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety,” she added.
“In recent days, it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause.
I intend to allow our child to grow in a normal and safe environment, so I ask that the media honor our child’s privacy and refrain from invasive reporting.”
A Time of Isolation
St. Clair also shared a glimpse of her experience during pregnancy, claiming that she was isolated in a luxury New York apartment.
“I was completely isolated during my pregnancy. Every part of my career and everything I used to do I couldn’t do anymore.
I was told not to tell anybody,” she said.
While Elon Musk has not commented on these details, the story continues to capture the attention of media outlets and the public alike.
