Arsenal reach personal agreement with young Spanish defender Cristhian Mosquera as transfer talks with Valencia continue in North London

Cristhian Mosquera

After a few seasons of narrowly missing out on Premier League glory, Arsenal are pushing hard this summer to strengthen their squad—and the latest name on their radar is Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera.

Mosquera Agrees Personal Terms with Arsenal

According to fresh reports, Arsenal have now reached full agreement on personal terms with the 21-year-old centre-back.

While the deal isn’t completely done yet, this development marks a major step forward.

The Gunners clearly see Mosquera as a smart addition—especially as cover for their top defensive duo, William Saliba and Gabriel.

Why Arsenal Want Extra Defensive Cover

Gabriel picked up a hamstring injury back in April, and while Saliba remains a rock at the back, playing every league match last season, the risk of overworking key players is real.

Bringing in Mosquera would give Arteta the flexibility to rotate his defence without dropping quality.

Negotiations Still Ongoing with Valencia

Although Arsenal’s first bid of £12 million didn’t get the green light, they’re not giving up just yet.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the club is now preparing a revised offer, hoping to secure the young defender for a fee north of £17 million.

Valencia, who raised Mosquera through their academy, are understandably playing hardball—he’s one of their brightest young talents.

Mosquera’s Journey So Far

Mosquera joined Valencia’s youth ranks at just 12 years old and broke into the senior team in 2021.

Since then, he’s made 104 appearances for Los Che. Standing tall at 6ft 2in, he brings physical presence and technical skill.

On the international scene, he’s represented Spain at every youth level from U15 to U23, earning 36 caps, and even helped the team to Olympic gold last summer.

Still, he’s waiting on his first senior call-up.

Arsenal’s Busy Transfer Window

The pursuit of Mosquera is just one part of Arsenal’s broader plan to bolster their squad.

With midfield veteran Jorginho now in Brazil playing for Flamengo and Thomas Partey on the verge of leaving, the Gunners have already struck a deal to bring in Christian Norgaard from Brentford for £15 million.

They’re also reportedly closing in on deals for Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi.

Striker Remains the Top Priority

Despite these moves, Arsenal’s biggest target remains up front.

They’re still working on securing a striker, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres both in the mix.

Of the two, Sesko seems to be the preferred choice—but Leipzig know Arsenal are desperate and are driving a hard bargain.

What’s Coming Next?

With plenty of movement already and even more in the pipeline, it’s clear that Arsenal are going all in this summer.

Whether it’s Mosquera at the back, Norgaard in midfield, or a marquee striker up front, Mikel Arteta is building a squad designed not just to compete—but to finally win the Premier League.
