Archbishop Okeke Celebrates Christmas With Inmates Of Correctional Centre Onitsha

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke has celebrated this year’s Christmas with the inmates of Nigerian correctional centre Onitsha.

In a homily to mark the annual event, Most Reverend Okeke whose homily centered on Transform, the Royal Infant, called on the inmates to believe in Jesus Christ who is ever ready to change and wipe away their sorrows, fear and tribulations, assuring them of better days ahead.

The Catholic Prelate who thanked the benefactors for their continuous support to the Center also disclosed that the Skill Acquisition center built by the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha will start functioning early next year.

Appreciating the Archbishop for the visit, the Chaplain of the Center, Reverend Father Bartholomew Okpalaplafugo extolled him for his love, kindness and assistance to the center and his numerous achievements recorded in the Onitsha Archdiocese and prayed God to continue to bless and guide him.

Addressing the congregation, the Deputy Director of the Nigerian Correctional Center, Onitsha Mr. Valentine Nwosu thanked Archbishop Okeke for building a skill Acquisition center for them, and other donors for remembering them always.

Speaking to the ABS, the member representing Onitsha North constituency Two at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Edward lbuzuo urged the inmates to have faith in God and thanked Archbishop Okeke for his regular visits to the center.

The Archbishop was accompanied by the Chancellor of the Archdiocese Very Reverend Father Prudentus Aroh, among others.

The visit featured thanksgiving, Presentation of various gifts by Archbishop Okeke to the inmates and special rendition by the inmates choir.
