Arab League welcomes UN Security Council resolution listing Houthis as terrorist organisation
CAIRO, 1st March, 2022 – Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, welcomed the resolution of the United Nations (UN) Security Council to list the Houthi militias as a terrorist organisation, and placing them on a list of entities banned from being supplied with arms.
In its statement issued today, the Arab League Secretary-General said that the resolution supports international counterterrorism efforts, and will restrict the Houthis’ military capabilities, which would help deescalate the situation in Yemen and reduce the suffering of the Yemeni people, while also limiting the Houthis’ transgressions against Saudi Arabia and the UAE and ensuring greater stability in the region.
