Anthony Mitchell evades police stingers and performs dangerous stunts on BMW motorbike before being jailed in Mostyn, North Wales

Anthony Mitchell’s daredevil antics on the A548 in Mostyn, North Wales, finally caught up with him.

The 33-year-old, known for his hellraising behaviour on a BMW motorbike, thought he could outrun the law after evading three stinger devices laid by traffic police.

But his luck ran out in an unexpected way—thanks to a police drone and a bite from his own dog.

A High-Speed Chase from Above

The drama unfolded on May 16, when Mitchell sped along the notorious A548, a road already known for accidents.

He performed wheelies, rode one-handed, and swerved onto pavements to avoid police stingers.

Footage captured by a North Wales Police drone showed him dodging each device with astonishing skill—and recklessness.

Despite avoiding the stingers, Mitchell had been monitored closely from the air.

He even removed his number plates, hoping to slip past speed cameras after hitting 107mph and 118mph in the weeks before the chase—nearly three times the 40mph limit.

A Surprising Twist at Home

Mitchell returned home to a twist of fate. While trying to unwind from his stunt, he was bitten badly by his own mastiff-type dog, sustaining serious hand injuries.

The following day, his partner informed the police, and Mitchell decided to hand himself in.

Police found his bike at the caravan park where he lived, along with Velcro tabs that had been used to attach his number plate.

Dangerous Driving Comes With Consequences

Mitchell admitted to dangerous driving, and his defence lawyer, Charlotte Kenny, said he believed he had ADHD, which might have contributed to thrill-seeking behaviour.

“He appreciates this kind of behaviour is dangerous to the community at large.

He’s had time to reflect. He’s extremely sorry,” she told the court.

But Judge Rhys Rowlands made it clear that Mitchell’s recklessness could have had fatal consequences.

“One shudders to think what would have happened if a young child ran out in front of you,” he said, condemning the biker’s “brazen disregard” for speed limits and safety.

Sentencing and Safety Measures

Mitchell was jailed for 21 months and handed a 46-month driving ban with an extended test requirement.

The court also issued a deprivation order for his motorbike.

The judge noted that, due to his dog bite injuries, Mitchell will find it very difficult to ride a motorbike in the foreseeable future.

A Cautionary Tale on a Dangerous Road

The A548 has long been labelled an accident blackspot, and Mitchell’s high-speed stunts—riding one-handed and dodging police devices—made it clear how close disaster was.

What started as a thrill-seeking ride ended in serious legal consequences and a personal reminder that even the most daring escapes can’t outrun reality.
