Anthony Joshua enjoys royal box treatment at Wimbledon while pausing boxing career following knockout loss in London

It wasn’t about knockouts or weigh-ins on Friday—it was all about strawberries, sunshine, and Centre Court for Anthony Joshua.

The former heavyweight champion swapped boxing gloves for a blazer as he took a well-earned break from the fight game and enjoyed a royal box seat at Wimbledon.

Star Power in the Royal Box

Joshua wasn’t alone in turning heads at the All England Club.

Sitting alongside his longtime promoter Eddie Hearn, the duo added sporting flair to an already star-studded lineup that included Match of the Day host Gary Lineker, culinary legend Mary Berry, and British astronaut Tim Peake.

The crowd had plenty to cheer about on Centre Court, with Emma Raducanu facing off against world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka—an A-list match worthy of the VIP attention.

Still Recovering, Still Waiting

While he looked relaxed and cheerful in the royal box, fans of Anthony Joshua are still eagerly awaiting his return to the ring.

He hasn’t fought since his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois back in September 2024.

And following elbow surgery in May, he’s been taking time to recover properly.

Joshua has hinted that he’ll be back before the year ends, but exactly when—or who he’ll face—remains unclear.

No Tyson Fury Fight on the Horizon (Yet)

As much as fans dream of a blockbuster bout between Joshua and Tyson Fury, it doesn’t seem like that’s happening any time soon.

Saudi Arabia’s boxing boss, Turki Alalshikh, recently announced that Fury has promised to make a dramatic comeback next year—but not against AJ.

Instead, rumors are swirling about a trilogy fight between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, following Fury’s dramatic loss in their last match.

Fury, now 36, has “retired” more than a few times already, but his reunion with trainer SugarHill Steward in April gave fans fresh hope for at least one more super-fight.

Still Hoping for a Battle of Britain

Despite no official plans, the idea of a “Battle of Britain” between Joshua and Fury still lingers in the minds of boxing fans.

With both fighters in recovery mode—Joshua post-surgery and Fury post-retirement—the window hasn’t closed entirely.

For now, though, AJ seems content enjoying tennis, fresh air, and a bit of normalcy—before his next step back into the ring.
