On Saturday, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were full of excitement as they joined the massive celebrations for Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup triumph over Liverpool.
The historic victory marked the club’s first major trophy in 70 years, and the atmosphere was electric as over 200,000 passionate fans gathered at St. James’ Park to take part in the open-top bus parade.
A Proud Moment for Newcastle Fans
The TV duo, both 49, couldn’t hide their joy as they waved to the crowd from the stands.
For the occasion, Ant kept things smart casual, donning a black Newcastle United football T-shirt and a large blazer, while Dec looked equally thrilled, wearing a black varsity jacket, a simple black T-shirt, and trousers.
The parade kicked off at 4:30 pm, starting from St. James’ Park, as the streets filled with fans eager to celebrate the monumental win.
The Celebration and the Legends
The open-top bus made its way through the city, with the crowds lining the streets, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
The route ended at Town Moor, where a special Q&A session took place, featuring Newcastle legends like Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer.
The current squad also made their way to the stage at 6:30 pm to salute the adoring supporters.
Eddie Howe’s Emotional Speech
Speaking to fans on Sky Sports, Newcastle’s manager Eddie Howe shared his gratitude and emotions.
“It’s unbelievable. I didn’t know what to expect today,” he said, clearly moved by the turnout.
“I was hoping for something really special, and this is just mind-blowing,” he continued.
Eddie went on to talk about the immense support he and his family have received from the Newcastle fans since his arrival.
“I’m just glad to have given them some joy,” he added.
Ant and Dec Enjoying the Moment
Earlier in the day, Ant and Dec were spotted entering St. James’ Park, where they posed for photos and signed autographs for the fans.
The pair later attended a screening of the Carabao Cup final, which was shown at 2 pm.
The streets and buildings around the stadium were decorated in black and white, ready for the day’s festivities.
The celebration included appearances from various celebrity guests, including former Newcastle striker Les Ferdinand.
Reflecting on the Team’s Journey
Les Ferdinand shared his thoughts on the team’s journey and how it has changed since the days when Newcastle was dubbed “the entertainers.”
“This team has a bit more grit and determination,” he said.
“What’s special is the support of these fans—no player will be supported like this anywhere else,” Ferdinand added, emphasizing the bond between the team and its supporters.
The Parade Continues
The parade made its way through Haymarket and the Great North Road, with the crowds continuing to cheer as the open-top bus made its way to Town Moor.
The night ended with a spectacular light show, sponsored by Sela, before the event was broadcast live on Sky Sports and Newcastle’s official YouTube channel.
A Historic Victory
Earlier this month, Ant and Dec were seen celebrating just as passionately as the rest of Newcastle fans when their team lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley.
The victory ended a 70-year drought for the club, marking their first major trophy since the 1955 FA Cup win.
The pair, who are both Newcastle natives, were seen proudly wearing their Newcastle scarves and roaring in celebration as the team scored in the first half and sealed their win shortly after.
