Tensions are clearly mounting for Chicago Sky star Angel Reese, and her latest outburst during Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Mystics has people talking — again.
With the game hanging in the balance and emotions running hot, Reese had a moment that WNBA fans are still debating.
Just two days after venting her anger at referees in a fiery postgame rant, she’s now made headlines for another emotional reaction — this time directed at her own bench.
Clipboard Clash Caught on Camera
Late in the fourth quarter, with just under 30 seconds left on the clock and the game tied at 77-77, Reese was seen angrily slapping a clipboard out of a staff member’s hands as she headed toward the bench.
The incident, which unfolded at George Mason University, was broadcast live and quickly spread across social media.
The clipboard was being held out by Ann Crosby, who holds a dual role as Chicago’s Vice President of Basketball Operations and a strength and conditioning coach.
Fans were divided over what they witnessed.
Social Media Reacts to the Heated Moment
As always, fans on X (formerly Twitter) had plenty to say. Some viewers thought the move was out of line.
One person posted, “Can’t be doing that Reese.”
Another added, “Never seen anything like this! As a coach, the board is the MVP.
Can’t let a player disrespect the X’s and O’s.” Others simply called the moment “embarrassing.”
But not everyone was quick to judge. Plenty of people came to Reese’s defense, questioning why she was handed the clipboard in the first place.
“Why was she giving AR the clipboard tho?” one fan asked.
Another chimed in, “Can you blame her?” with others simply labeling Reese “box office”—acknowledging her star power, even in controversy.
Angel Reese Addresses the Incident
Reese later took to social media to explain what happened and admit she regretted the way things went down.
In a tweet, she said:
“Those **** were pissing me off shoutout to Ann because she know it was the heat of the moment and she didn’t let me apologize because she knew! Not happening again tho.”
She confirmed that Ann Crosby didn’t hold the moment against her, understanding that the reaction came from raw emotion and frustration in the heat of the game.
Despite Big Numbers, the Sky Fall Short Again
Even with all the drama, Reese delivered on the scoreboard, dropping 22 points for the Sky.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, as Chicago fell just short with an 81-79 loss to the Mystics.
It marked the team’s seventh defeat in their last ten games, adding even more pressure to an already intense atmosphere.
Sunday’s Rant Still Lingers
Reese’s emotional week began on Sunday, after a tough loss to the Minnesota Lynx.
In the postgame press conference, she lashed out at what she believed was unfair officiating.
At one point, she pointed out that Chicago had only attempted two free throws through three quarters, a stat that left her and her teammates feeling disrespected.
Most of the team’s eight free throws came only in the final quarter.
Fed Up with the Officiating
During her press conference, Reese didn’t hold back:
“I don’t give a damn if I get fined because that s**’s cheap and I am tired of this s***.
I’ve been nice and I’ve been humble with it but I am tired of this s***.”*
She also mentioned how a referee shrugged off her concern by saying free throws weren’t her job to track.
For Reese, that felt like a slap in the face after battling it out in the paint all game.
Reese Remains a Polarizing Powerhouse
Love her or criticize her, there’s no denying Angel Reese brings intensity, passion, and attention to every game she plays.
Whether it’s fighting for calls on the court or slapping clipboards in a tense moment, she plays with her heart on her sleeve—and fans are watching every move.
