After months of anticipation and draft buzz, Angel Reese is getting the band back together—with a twist of redemption.
The Chicago Sky brought a little extra chemistry to their lineup on Monday night when they selected Hailey Van Lith with the No. 11 overall pick in the WNBA Draft.
And for Reese, it was more than just another pick—it was a reunion.
“Let’s Run It Backkkk”: Reese Celebrates Her New-Old Teammate
Reese wasted no time hopping on social media after Van Lith’s name was called.
Clearly thrilled about the news, she reposted a welcome graphic from the Sky and chimed in with a playful message:
“We ain’t do it right the first time. Let’s run it backkkk.”
The excitement was mutual. Van Lith, who transferred from LSU to TCU for her final college season, said she was “excited to be around [Reese] again.”
Their bond, according to Van Lith, runs deeper than basketball.
“She’s a dog, man. She turns up the intensity of everybody around her,” she added, clearly hyped for what’s to come.
From Baton Rouge to the Big League
Reese and Van Lith played one season together at LSU, helping the Lady Tigers make it to the Elite Eight before getting bounced by Caitlin Clark and Iowa.
The duo had hoped to take things further, but now they’ll have another chance—this time on the pro stage.
While Reese continued to shine and keep headlines buzzing, Van Lith’s season at LSU was a bit of a struggle.
She shot a career-low 37.8% from the field. But her transfer to TCU gave her the reset she needed.
Van Lith bounced back impressively, averaging 17.9 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game—and earning herself Big 12 Player of the Year.
From Court Queens to Cover Stars
Basketball isn’t the only thing these two stars have in common.
Both have made waves in the fashion world as well, landing features in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue.
Reese made her SI debut in 2023, while Van Lith just graced the digital cover this month ahead of the draft.
It’s safe to say this duo knows how to own a spotlight—on and off the court.
Support from the WNBA Sisterhood
Even veteran players are showing love. Las Vegas Aces star Chelsea Gray reminded fans not to underestimate a No. 11 pick (she was one herself back in 2014).
Reese quickly echoed the sentiment with a shoutout in return:
“Oh we won’t Cap. Thank yaaaa,” she replied, referencing Van Lith with a heart.
The Sky’s the Limit
The Chicago Sky seem to have been watching closely.
With Van Lith’s late-season resurgence and her connection to Reese, the pick wasn’t just about talent—it was about potential synergy.
And with the Sky set to open their season against Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever on May 17, the drama is already building.
Reese and Van Lith are ready for a do-over—only this time, the stakes are even higher.
And from the sound of it, they’re coming for everything.
