The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has presented a budget proposal of the sum of One Hundred and Forty-One point Nine Billion Naira (N141.
9bn) for 2022 to the State House Assembly.
Out of the draft estimate based on realistic projections on all sources of revenue, recurrent expenditure was pegged at Sixty point Nine Billion Naira (N60.
9bn) at forty-three percent, while the Capital expenditure is Eighty One Billion Naira (N81bn) at sixty-seven percent.
Road, works and infrastructure will gulp Twenty-Three Billion Naira (N23bn), while agriculture will take Three Billion Naira (N3bn); N2.
23bn will go to the education sector.
Environment is expected to take N3.
42bn, while Youth Empowerment and creative economy will get N2.
The Health sector gets N5.
8bn, while N1bn was allocated to small and medium enterprises and N2.
1bn goes to water resources and public utilities.
Community Social Development Programme will get N1.
4bn to enable the commencement of the third phase of the “community-choose-your-project” initiative as well as make provisions for disability programmes.
Governor Obiano said that the estimate is geared towards sustaining his performance over the last seven years, with no plans to increase taxes and levies in the coming year.
The proceedings were presided over by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
