Anambra Governorship Election: INEC To Deploy 50,000 Adhoc Workers, Security Personnel

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Anambra State, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, has said fifty thousand adhoc workers and security agents are expected to work in the November sixth governorship election in Anambra State.

 

Dr Orji who disclosed this in Awka while speaking at an event organized by the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, for broadcast stations in Anambra State, said while twenty-six thousand ad-hoc staff are needed to conduct the poll, twenty-four thousand security staff would also be needed to ensure that the election is violent-free.

 

The Anambra REC also said INEC would be bringing in new innovations into the election, including the introduction of a Bimordial Voter Accreditation System, which would be replacing the smart card reader, and polling unit reorganization.

 

In a presentation on “Achieving a Successful Election”, Dr Orji said a good election must be anchored on clear and established electoral frameworks, existence of independent election management body and knowledgeable electorate, as well as many other factors, stressing that a conducive environment must exist for elections to hold.
