Ndi Anambra have been reminded that APGA remains the only political party that has demonstrated strong commitment in protecting and projecting the interest and future of the State.

Speaking in Awka, the National Chairman of Anambra for Soludo, Chief Jude Emecheta, noted that APGA administrations over the years have brought a new dawn and redefined good governance in the State.

Paul Ezeoke reports that Chief Emecheta said the recent threat by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr. Abubakar Malami that the federal government was considering possible imposition of state of emergency on Anambra has made it glaringly clear of the need for the people of the State to look beyond political and religious differences and take the destiny of the State in their hands.

He wondered why anybody  should ever contemplate  imposing a state of emergency on a State that has remained the most peaceful and secured in the country for over seven years, when scores of people are killed on daily basis in various northern States, and commended President Muhammadu Buhari for rising to the occasion and disowning the statement.

Chief Emecheta urged the people of the State to see the coming election as an opportunity for collective action to further entrench good governance in the State, noting that APGA flag- bearer, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has the voice and personality that command national and international respect.

He explained that as the Chairman of Anambra Vision 2070, Professor Soludo has a clear blueprint for innovations and reforms that will reposition the state for sustainable development, with diversified economy that will remain independent of federal allocation.

Also speaking, an APGA Chieftain, Dr. Mike Omenugha, who expressed disappointment with the statement by the Minster of Justice, said selective application of rules and policies is a serious threat to democratic principles and could only fuel agitations and restiveness, noting that since the federal government controls national security apparatus, it has the responsibility of assisting States tackle challenge of insecurity, regretting that the situation in Anambra in the last few weeks was deliberately orchestrated by desperate individuals to achieve selfish interest.

Dr. Omenugha who is a former President General of Nnobi Town Union said the State is not ready to go back to its dark years when it was a reference point for bad governance, noting that Governor Obiano’s legacy projects would benefit present and future generations.

He urged Ndi Anambra to come out en masse and vote APGA and Professor Soludo to consolidate achievements already recorded and protect the State from external interference.
