Awka North and South Local Government Areas have pledged its solidarity to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA candidate, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and his running mate, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim.

The national leader and chairman, Board of Trustees of APGA, Governor Willie Obiano arrived Saint Joseph Field, Ebenebe, Awka North and Awka City Stadium, in Awka South for the party’s campaign in company of the national chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Oye and the former national chairman, Senator Victor Umeh and numerous others.

Government House Correspondent Ejike  reports that while speaking at the campaign grounds, Governor Obiano emphasized that the election will still hold on November sixth, asking Ndi Awka North and South to mobilize votes for APGA and ensure that they  protect their votes.

While urging voters to vote right, the APGA National Chairman, Chief Oye made it clear that it is a fallacy that the coming election will be rigged, emphasizing that there was a report by the DSS and INEC proclaiming that there was no primary election in APC, and as such, they do not have a legally candidate.

For the former national chairman of APGA, Senator Umeh, APGA is the bargaining power for Ndigbo, which starts from Anambra State.

The transition committee chairman for Awka South local government, Mr. Leo Nwuba stressed that the people of Awka South are behind the party because of the visible developments in the area and assured that they will pay back with votes for Professor Soludo, just as his Awka North counterpart, Mr. Ferdinand Onwuje said despite the fact that government is a continuum, if another party takes over the affairs of the state, it may still run it down.

Responding, Professor Soludo declared that Awka North is part of his priority areas when he assumes office as he has been talking about it since 2010, revealing that the present administration has done so much for the people of Awka South and deserves their support.

Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, who hails from the area used the opportunity to thank the governor for affording him the opportunity to serve in his cabinet, noting that God wants to beautify Anambra State with their emergence because Professor Soludo has a lot of things in stock for Anambra and Awka North and South in particular.

APGA stakeholders at the event including the member representing Awka South Constituency One and Two, Honourable Nnamdi Okafor and Chuma Okafor, Principal Secretary to the governor, Mr. Willie Nwokoye, former Speaker of the state Assembly, Right Honourable Anayo Nnebe, Chief  Emeka Agummadu, Chief Obi Ochije, and the Special Adviser to the governor on Security, Chief Chikodili Anara among others were on ground to receive the governor.

At the events, the party’s state auditor, Mr. Anthony Nchekwube and Chief Chika Ibeneme, who pitched tent against the Soludo candidacy, were received back into the fold.
