Members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria have been tasked to continue to work in synergy with the Police and other sister security agencies in Anambra State by furnishing them with actionable and useful information that helps to rid various communities of crimes and criminal elements.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra Police Command, CP Echeng E Echeng made the call while addressing newly promoted and decorated senior officers of Vigilante Group of Nigeria VGN in Ngozika Housing Estate Awka.
The Commissioner of Police, represented by Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Emma Ogbuanya from Operations Department of the Command, highlighted some of the core essence of Vigilante work, and reminded them that people with criminal records or exconvicts are not allowed to join Vigilante Group.
Earlier in his remarks, the Anambra State Commandant of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, George Chukwu, said Members of Vigilante Group will not relent in their efforts at dislodging criminals in various communities.
He said the group, when encouraged with Legislative and Executive recognitions, would achieve more for the society.
Presenting the address of welcome, the state deputy commander, Admin, Frank Ibeneme pledged that Vigilante Group will continue with their efforts to make Anambra State more secured even when they are yet to receive any incentives.
He requested assistance of the Commissioner of Police to convey to Governor Willie Obiano the challenges facing them and extolled the state Commissioner of police for his fatherly approach, and also called on well-meaning Ndi Anambra to come to their assistance as they lack a lot of amenities.
