Manchester United supporters didn’t hold back their feelings toward Alejandro Garnacho as the club prepared for Sunday’s season opener against Arsenal.
The 21-year-old winger, who has been sidelined this summer, has found himself at the centre of intense fan scrutiny and transfer speculation.
Garnacho Among United’s Summer Exiles
Garnacho was placed in Ruben Amorim’s so-called “bomb squad” at the start of the summer, alongside fellow exiled players Jadon Sancho, Antony, Marcus Rashford, and Tyrell Malacia.
The move came after Garnacho expressed frustration about starting on the bench during the Europa League final, prompting Amorim to advise him to seek a move elsewhere.
Fans Make Their Opinions Clear
Supporters quickly made their stance known. A large image of Garnacho outside Old Trafford was defaced, with his face crossed out, reflecting the tension between the winger and the fanbase.
Garnacho’s name was also absent from Manchester United’s matchday squad, signaling a bleak outlook for his involvement in the season ahead.
Chelsea Emerges as Potential Destination
Reports indicate that Garnacho has now set his sights on a move to Chelsea.
The Blues have expressed a strong interest in signing the Argentine winger, with Manchester United reportedly lowering their asking price from £70 million to £50 million to facilitate a transfer.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Garnacho has given United an ultimatum: either complete a move to Chelsea or face a prolonged spell on the bench for the next six to twelve months.
Romano later added that Chelsea have already agreed personal terms with Garnacho, and the club’s management has no concerns regarding his character after thorough checks.
Negotiations over the transfer fee are now underway.

Garnacho has featured in 144 games for Manchester United, scoring 26 goals and contributing 22 assists.
His honours with the club include an FA Cup triumph in the 2023-24 campaign and an EFL Cup victory the season prior.

In addition to Garnacho talks, Chelsea are reportedly exploring a swap deal with RB Leipzig involving Xavi Simons.
This arrangement could see Christopher Nkunku, who had a successful stint in the Bundesliga before joining the Blues, move to Leipzig as part of the negotiations.
