Al Roker admits that blood clots in his leg and lungs caused him to be hospitalized

Al Roker disclosed he was hospitalized for blood clots in his leg and lungs after his “Today” show absence caused worry.

The meteorologist captioned a Friday Instagram shot of roses and an NBC News mug, “So many of you have been thoughtfully inquiring where I’ve been.”

“I was admitted to the hospital last week with a blood clot in my leg that traveled to my lungs,” he added. After some medical whack-a-mole, I am lucky to be receiving excellent medical treatment and on the mend.

The 68-year-old closed by expressing gratitude for his followers’ “well-wishes and prayers” and expressing his desire to see them soon. Have a wonderful weekend, everybody!”

Colleagues of Roker expressed their support in the comments section.

Roker’s health worry occurs two years after the weatherman informed viewers of his prostate cancer diagnosis.

In November 2020, he stated, “The good news is that we found it early, but the bad news is that it’s a bit aggressive, so I’ll be taking some time off to deal with it.”

“I don’t want people to feel sorry for me, because I’m going to be OK,” Roker said, adding that he wants to return in two weeks following surgery.

The Daytime Emmy winner extolled the “excellent medical treatment” he received upon his return later that same month.
