Aku Uka Of Wukari Is Dead

Dr. Shekarau Angyu, the Aku Uka of Wukari and Chairman of the Taraba Council of Chiefs, has died after 45 years of ruling the Kwararafa (Junkun) race.

Wukari is a town in Taraba State, Nigeria’s north central region.

At the time of his death, he was 84 years old.

The announcement of his death was contained in a statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media to the Aku Uka, Jolly Agbu.

Agbu noted that ”Angyu joined his ancestors in the early hours of yesterday during a brief illness.”

The statement added that “traditional rites in accordance with Jukun culture had since begun and that the final rites would be announced in due course.”
