The AfricaNenda Foundation is an African-led initiative dedicated to accelerating the development of inclusive instant payment systems (IIPS) across the continent.
Its goal is to ensure that all Africans, including those in the most marginalized communities, have access to financial services by 2030.
By focusing on the creation and expansion of scalable, inclusive payment systems, AfricaNenda aims to tackle financial exclusion and unlock opportunities for millions of Africans who are currently left out of the financial ecosystem.
Empowering Financial Inclusion Through Inclusive Payments
AfricaNenda is working to build or enhance national and regional instant payment infrastructures across Africa.
The foundation’s approach begins with offering technical assistance during the early stages of payment system design, helping create proof-of-concept (POC) projects that are investment-ready and scalable.
The organization then supports the implementation of these systems, while also strengthening the capacity of influential institutions across the continent to better understand and manage IIPS.
Additionally, AfricaNenda partners with policymakers and regulators to create a favorable environment for the development of inclusive payment systems.
These efforts support continental goals, such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the African Union Digital Transformation Strategy, by promoting financial inclusion and cross-border payments.
