Niger state government
Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has directed the immediate closure of boarding schools in four (4) local Government areas in the State.
The Governor stated this in a State Broadcast at the Government House following the abduction of 27 students of Government Science College Kagara, some staff and members of their families.
The local government affected with the closure are Rafi, Mariga, Munya and Shiroro local government areas.
Governor Sani Bello said all options will be implored to ensure the release of all that have been abducted but however maintained that the state government will not pay ransome as it is not the policy of the state government, saying it is to discourage the kidnappers from using the proceeds to purchase more weapons.
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello visited Government Science College Kagara where 27 students, 3 staff and 12 family members of the staff were abducted by bandits.
Governor Sani Bello was in company of his Deputy and all the State Executive Council members.
He met with the school management and some security agents to give them morale support and assured them of Government’s determination to rescue the students and bring an end to the menace.
