A suicide bomber rode a motorcycle into a police truck in Sibbi, a city about 100 miles east of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan on Monday.
The attack killed nine policemen, according to police spokesman Mehmood Khan Notizai.
At least seven policemen were also wounded in the attack, which is the latest in a series of targeted attacks against police personnel in Pakistan.
As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, ethnic Baloch guerrillas have been fighting the government for decades, accusing it of exploiting Balochistan’s rich gas and mineral resources.
This attack comes as another violent reminder of the ongoing instability in the region.
