News of North’s passing was shared by his close friend, Laurie Jacobson, on Facebook. Jacobson, who had remained in touch with the actor throughout his life, reflected on his difficult journey both in Hollywood and beyond.

“As many of his fans know, he had a difficult journey in Hollywood and after… but he did not let it define his life,” Jacobson wrote.

“He had a heart as big as a mountain, loved his friends deeply, and ended every conversation with ‘I love you with all my heart.'”

She added that, although they would miss him deeply, his suffering had ended, and he was finally at peace.

Jon Provost, known for his role as the beloved Timmy in Lassie, also paid tribute to his long-time friend on Facebook.

Provost, who had known North for nearly 70 years, expressed his sorrow: “You did suffer a lot more than most, but you were a great guy, Jay, and I miss you with all my heart.”

Provost acknowledged the struggles North had endured over the years but found comfort in knowing his friend was now at peace.

He was surrounded by his loving wife, Cindy, and his stepdaughters during his final moments.
