Kalgoorlie locals wake to 2.9 earthquake

Residents of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, reported feeling their homes tremble as they woke up due to an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.9.

The earthquake, which occurred at 5.31 am on Tuesday and was centered in the southern portion of the mining town at a depth of 7 kilometers, was felt by hundreds of residents.

When the earthquake was certified by the authorities later in the morning, many had originally assumed it was connected to neighboring mining activities.
