Uvalde, Texas has suspended its entire school district police force following months of criticism over how officers responded to the May 24 school massacre.

The action is a “result of recent events” as the Texas Police Chiefs Association and private investigators investigate the police’s behavior during the shooting that resulted in the deaths of 21 persons, including 19 children.

The police arrived at the site of the mass shooting within minutes, yet the district’s police head waited nearly an hour before confronting the shooter.

The Uvalde school system stated without elaboration that two officials have been placed on administrative leave owing to “new concerns.”

An officer has made the decision to retire.
