2022 Lagos State Economic Summit, tagged: “Ehingbeti Summit”, to unveil the State’s 30-Year Development Plan

The Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, has announced that the State’s 30-Year Development Plan would be unveiled during this year’s Lagos State Economic Summit, tagged “Ehingbeti Summit.”

During his Thursday appearance on the Yoruba radio programme “Ebawa Da Si” on IKD106.1FM, Omotoso indicated that the summit will concentrate not only on the economics but also on the general development of all aspects of human endeavour in the State.

He said, “The forum was conceived as a platform where local and international leaders in private and public sectors assemble to chart a course for the future development of the State. In essence, the Summit will address the socio-economic development of Lagos State”.

The Commissioner stated that some of the ongoing projects of Governor Babajide Sanwo-administration, Olu’s such as the soon-to-be-completed Red and Blue Rail transport system, the Lekki Sea Port, major roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, environmental regeneration, and the proposed airport, were the result of previous Ehingbeti Summits.

On the subject of flood management, Omotoso said that flooding is a natural occurrence since no one can predict the amount and length of rainfall, and that the Sanwo-Olu government has done an excellent job of controlling floods in the state.

Omotoso said that the flood control measures employed by the current government are impressive in comparison to the devastation that flooding is inflicting on lives and property throughout the globe.

Commenting on the government’s plans to ensure that the Lekki Sea Port, Dangote Refinery, and other developments around Lekki do not cause traffic congestion along the axis, the Commissioner stated that a six-lane expressway and regional road are being built to supplement the existing road network in order to ensure free traffic flow along the corridor.

He attributed the occasional slow vehicular movement in Ikorodu to road users who flagrantly disobey traffic rules and regulations by stopping for passengers to board and alight from vehicles, emphasising that the persistent violation of traffic laws, road setbacks, and bus stops contribute to traffic congestion on roads throughout the metropolitan area.

Omotoso said that the road extension and removal of roundabouts on certain municipal routes would considerably ease the traffic situation, urging motorists and road users to abide by traffic laws in the best interests of all city residents.
