Bomb squad training accident injures 5

State police said that five law enforcement personnel were hurt on Thursday morning inside a state prison in Skippack Township, Pennsylvania, during a bomb squad training exercise.

An unplanned explosion occurred, according to the FBI Philadelphia, when the organisation was “conducting explosives response training at SCI Phoenix for law enforcement partners.”

According to a statement released by the FBI on Thursday night, three bomb technicians from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, one member of the Pennsylvania State Police, and one agent from the FBI Philadelphia were all hurt.

The injured were sent to nearby medical facilities.

The state police stated on Thursday afternoon that one of its bomb technicians had minor injuries. At this point, it is unknown how the others are doing.

What caused the occurrence is unknown.

The event is being looked into by the FBI and state police.

About 30 miles to the northwest of Philadelphia lies Skippack Township.
