Benjamin Heels and lover confess to child sex crimes

A former high school music instructor and his lover have admitted to having child abuse materials in their possession as well as a number of other distinct child sex offences.

Tristan Cullinan-Smayle and Benjamin Heels, both 33, appeared by videolink on Thursday at the County Court of Victoria.

The pair has pleaded guilty to more than 60 crimes altogether.

Heels admitted to having intercourse with a kid under the age of 16 and entered a guilty plea. He is a teacher at Melbourne’s Fountain Gate Secondary College.

In addition, the 33-year-old is admitting guilt to collecting and disseminating child sex abuse materials as well as sexual behaviour in the presence of a child and sexual assault of a juvenile, NCA Newswire said.

In a 2017 instance, his partner acknowledged using a transportation service to get a minor to engage in sexual conduct.

The 33-year-old Cullinan-Smayle will also enter a guilty plea to having and sending child abuse materials.

Between January 1 and May 14, 2021, a four and a half month span was covered by Heels’ criminal activity.

Additionally, the instructor participated in several musical productions, including Priscilla Queen of the Desert, some of which included performances by young people.

Heels may be seen in pictures from his social media profiles dressed as a clown and in Slytherin house pyjamas with Harry Potter themes.

The two appeared together from Hopkins Correctional Center and will go before the court once again in February 2019, according to NCA.

When she found out the instructor was a paedophile, she claimed, “I felt completely nauseous and incredibly anxious.”
